Welcome to the website of the Karl and Angela Rees family, where you can get all the latest news about Karl and Angela Rees without all that time-consuming phone call business. Not that we mind phone calls, of course. But we're just trying to make it easier for you to care.

Here are some pictures of our home remodel.

As may be expected, we spent a lot of time fixing the house last week.  Especially Angela—not that she did a lot of manual labor, but she had to plan and arrange things.  Karl tried to get a 40 hour work week in, but he was back and forth between work and the house a lot as well.  Poor Thomas.  We think he’s felt a bit neglected lately (resulting in many tantrums).  And to top things off, he keeps asking where Paela is.  We hope the Madsen’s are doing well in Boston.

To make a long story short, we didn’t close on the house this weekend because we hate our lenders.  Wait.  Hate’s a strong word.  And we don’t like to bite the hands that feed us.  But yes, they’re not our favorite people.   Very non-communicative.  We feel like we’re pulling teeth to get information out of them.  Anyway, we’re fairly confident it will be sorted out by the end of this week.  The underwrite wants guarantees that certain repairs will be made within a month or so of buying the house.  read more »

Thomas does his first (3) easter egg hunts. One was on Saturday with the primary. One was with the Easter bunny when he woke up on Sunday (oh boy was he excited to see the eggs--he threw a fit when Karl made him change his diaper first). Then, he enjoyed it so much we hid the eggs again. Oh, and Thomas had a blast coloring eggs Saturday night as well.

IMAG0066We got the house.  Consequently, much of our week concentrated around obtaining a loan, cursing at the medical center who sent a $25 bill to collections 6 years ago because they had a wrong address (which is now costing us .25-.5% interest on our mortgage loan), soliciting bids for all sorts of home repairs, and l  read more »

Thomas had neither the library nor his class to look forward to this week, but he and Angela still found things to do.  Thursday, they went a nice long walk with her visiting teacher.  Friday, they went to the first pool party of the year.  It was great weather, but maybe the water was a little too cold or maybe Thomas forgot he likes to swim or maybe Thomas was upset about falling in the kiddie pool and getting his face wet.  We had missionaries over on Wednesday and Angela cooked North Carolina BBQ pork.  They were a quiet pair, but Thomas was entertained, and it was still nice to ha  read more »
