We are home owners!!  On Tuesday we signed the papers, Wednesday the bank funded our loan, and Thursday we got the keys.  Friday the fumigators tented our place and filled it with poison gas.

Next week the real work will begin.  Sometime Monday we'll be cleared to enter the home again.  Tuesday we have repiping scheduled which should be completed by Thursday.  Also on Tuesday we have our drywall contractor starting on the popcorn ceilings and crack report.  He will also sheetrock the wall between the kitchen and the converted garage that was removed to fix a leak.  We have also hired him to texture the walls and ceiling and frame in a new ceiling in the converted garage (it is a cheap commercial hanging ceiling now).  So he will be doing that stuff during this next month.

On Monday we ordered our windows (the ones we have are old single panes--one is cracked , one can't open, and on another one the hardware is broken).  We found a great place that we can make monthly payments interest free for the year.  We will also get a Federal Tax rebate on them next year (so if you need new windows, 2009 is the time to get them).

Angela's screen on her phone died.  She could answer the phone, but could not call.  We thought that we should quickly remedy this problem with the upcoming baby.  We thought we had insurance on it, but apparently not.  It cost 55 to switch phones (an actual sprint store instead of an authorized store wanted to charge 115, so Angela was happy to go back to the first store).

Thursday we ordered our washer and dryer (the sale ended that day). Since the washer is energy efficient, we can get a 200 rebate from our Electric and water company.  The washer is on the smaller side, but no smaller than anything we have had while married, and it had good reviews on consumer reports.

Friday we went to dinner with Becky and Wayne.  Our last dinner with them for awhile, as early Saturday morning they made their way to Boston.  We will miss having them so close.

Saturday, with a 10% coupon in hand, we bought a lot of things at home depot (range, microwave, shower valve, kitchen faucet, and electrical stuff).  We relaxed that evening by watching "Me and Marley."

Thomas had another hard week in nursery.  We really hope that he decides he likes it again before the baby comes.

Well, wish us luck on our remodel  adventure and cross your fingers that it gets quickly.  The month of May looks to be very busy for us, so if you are in the remodeling mood come on down.
