Karl’s Grandmother Rees passed away Friday morning at her home in Odessa, Texas. It hadn’t been unexpected, and she was surrounded by loved ones in her final days and hours. Karl called her Thursday night to tell her how much we appreciated spending time with her this summer in Salt Lake, and how much we loved her and are going to miss her. But we know she’s at peace now, at grandpa’s side once more. The funeral is next Saturday, and we will be driving down there for it. read more »

Karl has accepted an offer to work for a patent firm in San Jose next summer. We're very excited and can't wait for the California summer.

The big news this week is that we now know where we’ll be next summer. Karl got a nice offer from the firm in San Jose that was tops on his list, and so we’ll be accepting it. We’ll be out there for 10-12 weeks, starting sometime in early to mid-May. Angela’s hoping to keep her job, since her company has an office out there. Hopefully, they’ll just let her work from that office during the time we’re out there. We’re not sure what we’ll do with our house yet—maybe sublet it if we can find anyone. read more »

Angela’s time was longer than last year’s, but they added a little to the end of the race (we are guessing that last year they mismeasured). We did have some stomach problems during the race. This was a result of having too much dinner the night before. Karl read that pasta before a race would be a great idea, so we went to an Italian restaurant the night before. Well, Karl now freely admits he was wrong. read more »

Eat bugs--they are yummy, especially when you are running and they fly into your mouth.

Karl had the week off from school. The law school takes a break every semester so the students can go out and interview, but Karl had already done a lot of his interviewing, so he just had to finish editing the article he’s in charge of, and then he relaxed. He “spoiled” Angela, she says, because he got to spend so much time with her. He cooked. He did chores. He played games and watched movies with Angela. He sang opera to her. Kind of. It was a nice and refreshing break from school, but he can’t believe it’s over already. read more »
