This was a fun and adventurous week for the Karl and Angela Rees Family. Tuesday, Angela had the day off work, so she went into D.C. She met Karl near the firm were he was working and we had lunch. After purchasing an extravagant meal of hotdogs, chips, and cookies from a street vendor (this is actually one of Karl's favorite lunches here in DC, because they put so many good toppings on the dogs), we ate on a rock wall. It's a good thing Angela brought a huge umbrella, because it started pouring. After lunch, Angela made her way back to the mall in DC. read more »

Karl's thought: Reflecting back upon Star Wars and the "dark side's" preoccupation with anger and hate, I remembered a theory of Institute teacher earlier this year. Here's some pictures from our trip down to Charlottesville to see Chris and Katie and their new baby boy, Davin. Except we had to do it twice--since Davin still hadn't arrived for the first weekend. But that's okay, it was a good occasion for fun. read more »

The biggest happening of the week was Karl's brother Chris and his wife Katie having their first baby late Thursday evening: Davin Alexander Rees. He was huge! 9 lbs and 22 inches or something. Poor Katie. We didn't get to see him on Thursday. But we went down to see them at the hospital on Saturday with Karl's parents and his brother Bryan. Little Davin (or Alex as Karl insists he will call him) was so cute! read more »
