Another Reunion in Austin

Journal

We had a long and fun weekend in Austin. It was for Karl's grandparent's (Nissen, his mom's side) 50th wedding anniversary. Thursday night we flew to Austin. Amy picked us up from the airport. She was also kind enough to let us stay the night at her house. We arrived in time for Karl to see the last 7 seconds of the NBA finals in the airport terminal (Go Spurs!), but much to Angela's chagrin, we still had to stay up late with Amy and Brenden to watch the recorded game. Angela was super tired. Good thing Amy provided yummy brownies and ice cream.  read more »

On Top of a Mountain

Journal

This week was refreshingly less eventful, especially the first park of the week. We continued our new running program. Karl played Frisbee one night, and watched the San Antonio Spurs embarrass him a lot in the NBA playoffs up until tonight, when they thankfully finally hit some big shots. We watched a few episodes of Mad About You. So nothing out of the ordinary until about Friday. And quite honestly, Friday wasn't too out of the ordinary either.  read more »

Loafer Mountain Hike

Yesterday, we headed out on the Nebo Scenic Loop looking for a nice easy hiking trail. The idea was to get in better hiking shape so we could take a shot at Timp or Nebo next month. But when we got to the trail we had originally planned on, we realized we'd been there before, so we looked for another trail. That's how we found the Loafer Mountain Trail.  read more »

Photos from last Saturday's trip around Utah Lake. It was chilly, but beautiful and very green. It's been a very rainy Spring. Who knew Utah could be so green? Or that Utah Lake could be so high?  read more »

Home at Last

Journal

Last Monday afternoon Karl played some wild Frisbee with his fellow Texans (Ha, he hasn't lived in Texas for 10 years and was born in Utah, but he still calls himself a Texan--Angela). Fearlessly guarding his opponent, he slipped on a patch of rocky dirt and scraped up his leg horribly. It stung like crazy and looked really gross (it still stings and looks really gross), yet Krazy Karl got up without blinking an eye and continued to play. Good thing Angela wasn't there to see it happen. She was already in Orem working.  read more »

It's a long one

Journal

Today was the last time for a long while (we hope) that we have to say goodbye to each other at the airport. As you may remember from last week, Karl had to drop Angela off at the Baltimore airport on Monday, and then we spent much of the week apart from each other. It was Karl's last week of his internship in D.C., but Angela had to get back to work to take care of month-end reports.  read more »

More Airplane Thoughts

Quotes

Karl's Thought For The Week:
"Just remember this next time we're 15 minutes late."
- Pilot after pulling into Houston 15 minutes early. Unfortunately, I only needed to remember it until my connecting flight arrived in Austin. Or to be more specific, 15 minutes before the flight arrived.

Angela's Thought For The Week:
It's better to be home than in an airport.
