Family, Fun, and Sun

Journal

It’s getting to be summer here in Utah, perhaps too quickly, with highs in the upper 80s all week. But it’s perfect weather for fun outside. We spent a lot of leisure time this week enjoying the outdoors. We love this time of year.  read more »

Something More Tomorrow

Quotes
karl's picture

I ask that we stop refighting the battles and the recriminations of the past. I ask that we look now at what is right with America, at our possibilities and our potentialities for change and growth and achievement and sharing. I ask that we accept the responsibilities of leadership as a good neighbor to all peoples and the enemy of none. I ask that we strive to become, in the finest American tradition, something more tomorrow than we are today.

Payson Lakes campout

karl's picture

Friday night and Saturday morning we camped with Becky and Wayne at Payson Lakes campground. We had the campground almost entirely to ourselves because they had just opened it for the season. The lack of running water (hadn't been turned on yet), snowpiles, locked restrooms, and late thunderstorm almost kept us away, but we're glad we kept with it. It was beautiful, peaceful, and quiet, plus the weather turned out very nicely.  read more »

Bowling, Frisbee and Waterfalls

Journal

Monday, we decided to go bowling for FHE. Angela started out very well. She had 38 on the first three bowls. Soon after that it went downhill and she couldn’t break a hundred. She did beat Karl though.

Thursday, Karl talked Angela into playing Ultimate Frisbee. There were several girls playing on Tuesday so he thought they would come Thursday. That wasn’t the case. In fact there weren’t enough people to play a game of ultimate. We did throw the Frisbee around for a while, though. And Angela got some running in while Karl played a game of Hotbox.  read more »

Grove Creek Hike

Photos

Yesterday we took our first real hike of the year. We took the Grove Creek Trail at the base of Timp in Pleasant Grove. This is in the same area as Battle Creek / Dry Creek Loop we took last year. The trail was steep in the beginning, but wasn't too bad the rest of the way. We didn't complete the trail. Remembering our horrible experience up that side of Timp last summer (which was really our own fault, but the memories lingered), we decided to stop after making it to a beautiful waterfall about 2 miles up.  read more »

Daweena

PhotosVideos

Pictures and video from Karl's Daweena ultimate frisbee tournament last weekend. The team went 2-2, losing to Johnny Bravo and Edmonton, and winning against two Salt Lake teams. We didn't record all the games--the video is just a few small clips of Karl playing from the first two games.

Sunburn

Journal

It's been a fun week for us. Parties, no school, ultimate frisbee tournaments, good food, and great weather. It was nice to be able to spend the evenings this week just having fun. Even though Karl still has to study for the patent bar and work on the journal, he has plenty of time to do that (and clean a little) while Angela is at work. Then it's nothing but cooking (Karl's enjoying having time to experiment with recipes), exercise, and play during the evening.  read more »
