Ear Aches

Journal

Another week has come and gone. Doesn’t time just keep going faster the more it goes by. This week was a hard one for Karl. Mid-week he got an ear ache. He had to take a lot of ibuprofen and it felt like his entire head was underwater. It is doing a lot better today, but it still isn’t completely healed. As a result we weren’t so adventurous this week. Karl didn’t even go play Frisbee.  read more »

Settling In and Touristy Things

Journal

We’re feeling more at home in our second week here in San Jose. We’ve settled into comfortable schedules. Which is not to say that things at work and home are routine. Angela’s had a lot of variety at work thanks to an upcoming tax program she’s going to be in charge of. So she’s had to do a lot of communicating, research, and price forecasting. She also may be going on a training trip to Philadelphia at the end of this week—but the people in charge of scheduling the trip have been so scatterbrained she still doesn’t know if she’s going or not.  read more »

World Cup Fever

karl's picture

I just got done watching the refs ruin what was otherwise an awesome match between USA and Italy. Because I recorded it, I stayed up until 2:00AM to do this. It just made me remember the last World Cup--4 years ago--I can't believe it was so long ago. I remember being so excited about that World Cup--waking up at 4:00 in the morning or staying up all night to watch games live from Korea on my then new projector.  read more »

Confidence

Quotes

Attempt easy tasks as if they were difficult, and difficult as if they were easy; in the one case that confidence may not fall asleep, in the other that it may not be dismayed.

San Francisco Bike Trip

We rented a bicycle built for two and drove around the San Francisco Bay. We started from Pier 41 and then drove over the Golden Gate Bridge, through Sausalito and then around to Tiburon. It was an 18 mile trip altogether. Then, after dinner at a Mexican place on the waterfont, we took the ferry back to Pier 41. It got a little cold and windy over the bridge, but other than that it was a very pleasant ride. Too bad our camera ran out of batteries, so we didn't get to take many pictures after the bridge.

Exploring San Jose

Journal

We survived our first week in San Jose. Karl loves his internship. He is already working on an office action and patent application. He also got to sit in on an interview with an inventor. The atmosphere at the firm is very relaxed (for a law firm—no ties, t-shirts on Friday). It’s probably because they’re all ex-programmers and computer geeks—just like Karl. Karl’s commute wasn’t too bad either. To work was about 15 to 30 minutes depending on the day and from work was about 15 minutes. Angela’s is only 5 seconds. HAHAHA!  read more »

Age

Quotes

“So when did you graduate?”
“Awhile ago. In 2000.”
“So how old are you?”
“27.”
“We wouldn’t of guess that, you don’t look that old. Not that 27 is old.”

Windows Vista Beta

ReviewsGadgets and Geek Stuff

I downloaded the beta version of Windows Vista this week. It was a huge download--3.2GB. After a few unsuccesful tries at intsallation (it froze up about mid-way through), I took all the peripherals out of the computer and managed to get it to install. And it continued to work fine after I installed the peripherals again. I was impressed that when it sensed an unsuccesful install, it rolled everything back to the way things were.  read more »

Yes, we know the way to San Jose

Not much to report this week. Except we packed up our stuff, moved to San Jose, passed the Patent Bar… You know, same old, same old.  read more »
