My First experience with an Earthquake

Journal
angela's picture
Well, I just felt my first Earthquake. It was bound to happen at some point now that I live in California. Karl was playing frisbee at the time so he didn't even notice (He is a little disappointed). I was sitting down so I really felt it. My first thought was what is a big truck doing shaking by my apartment at this hour. The shaking got worse and I then knew it was an earthquake. The apartment swayed back and forth a few times after the earth shaking stopped.  read more »

Karl dep chai!

Thomas did very well earlier this week. He was going to bed early, sleeping late into the morning, smiling and playing a lot, and getting three naps a day. The latter part of the week did not go so well. He’s having trouble taking naps, being very cranky, and spitting up a lot of milk. Hopefully it’s just a little phase. He still can be pretty playful, though. He even belly-laughed again at us this morning.  read more »

Thought on California

Musings
angela's picture
1. People Drive too fast. I find myself going alittle slower than the traffic around me only to notice I am going 10 over the speed limit. 2. California Drivers are better than Utah Drivers in two respects: they stop for pedestrians and they let you merge. Reason for this is at they are defensive drivers and know that you will go anyway if they don't stop. 3. There are alot of shopping options, but it takes time to get to them. 4. Everyone and I mean everyone goes to the mall on Saturday. 5. There really are no seasons.

Two Weeks in One

Yes, we skipped a week. That’s what happen when you become official Californians. You skip a week of writing in your journal. Let that be a warning to you.  read more »

Baby Thomas - 3 Weeks to 2 Months

I took these pictures of Thomas around the apartment here in California. The pictures are from 3 weeks to 2 months, and we think you can see in them how much he's grown. He's 25 inches tall! That's taller than 97% of babies his age. But he's only 13lbs 8 oz, which puts him in the 83rd percentile. Check out how high he can lift his neck. We just wish he'd smile more when the camera is on--he always seems to know when we turn the camera on.

Update (2/24/08): Added a whole bunch of videos

Bye Bye House Plants

Pictures of the House Plants we had to get rid of to move to California
These are the house plants that Karl's been collecting over the last 10 years. They won't fit in our new place in California. Plus, how would we even move them? So we donated most of them on Craigslist. It was kind of fun to meet all of the different people who wanted house plants. It was almost like we were screening people to give away a kid or something. Hopefully they'll provide good homes.

Angela's Birthday

For Angela's birthday last month, Karl gave her a box full of paper. Seriously. Karl cut up a paper dress and put it in one of our large moving boxes. It took her half an hour to find it. But now she gets to go buy a real black dress, plus she gets a new phone. Oh, and Becky and Wayne made an amazing Oreo cake for her. Way better than store-bought.

Another week

Journal

Thursday night, Angela's parents arrived. They stayed until Sunday. We enjoyed having them here. They were a nice help with Thomas during this time. They even watched him while we hit the pool and hot tub. That was our first time leaving him. Saturday, Angela went to a baby shower for Rebecca, while Karl played Frisbee. Angela's mom went to the shower too. Angela discovered that she can drink out of a bottle rather quickly (it was one of the games). That evening we went to a Thai restaurant. Karl felt thirty playing Frisbee since he hasn't played in awhile.  read more »
