While we were up in Napa Valley for our anniversary, we took a hike up Mt. St. Helena. We made it almost 2 miles before Thomas needed us to turn back.

For our third anniversary, we (including Thomas) stayed at a Bed and Breakfast called Backyard Garden Oasis in Middletown. Of course, since we don't drink, we couldn't participate in the number one activity of Napa Valley--wine tasting. But we loved looking at the vineyards and the mounatins and the valleys and the mustard blooms. Yes, that includes Thomas who was on his best behavior for just about everything except one of our dinners.  read more »

We started off the week with a visit to Thomas’ doctor for his 6 month check up.  He didn’t gain much weight in the last 3 months, so we will get to see her again to make sure he is gaining enough.  We  read more »

We'd never spent time in the mountains to the east of the valley before, so on Saturday we drove up some long and windy roads to the top of Mount Hamilton and the Lick Observatory. So there's one difference between California and Utah--you can't drive up to the top of many mountains in Utah. Anyway, it was a terrific view, and Thomas even got to eat his dinner there. Well, it seems like these journal entries are becoming more about Thomas than us. It’s probably because our lives are so focused on him right now. He had his first veggies on Saturday—sweet potatoes.  read more »

We watched it rain a lot this week.  Karl’s weekly Frisbee game and mid season tournament were canceled because of the rain (well, actually because the ground was so wet and the city parks departments doesn’t like lots cleats tearing into the wet fields).  read more »
