Well we did it, or should I say he did it. Thomas is able to fall asleep on his own for bedtime. Actually, he hasn’t had too much difficulty going to bed at night since we began an earlier bedtime. Usually he is nursed to sleep then gently put in his crib. Sometimes we need to rock him or sing to him, but that’s it. So the main reason we’re training him to sleep on his own at night is to get him to be a better napper. He has gone to sleep on his own for a couple of naps with just a little crying. Hopefully the crying will be eliminated from naps as it has been from bedtime. It has been nice to say goodnight to a child who smiles up at you.
Karl played Frisbee on Thursday and Saturday. It is getting cold for the evening games, but he is still enjoying it.
Angela did some visiting teaching this week. Her partner is actually her sister-in-law. This is great, because knowing your partner makes it easier to go. She also did a lot of walking this week. Tuesday and Thursday she both went twice. The second time of those days she went with friends. Rebecca and Angela walked to Coldstone on Tuesday and Angela went walking with her visiting teacher on Thursday. They are going to make Thursday a weekly thing, so if anyone is interesting in joining we will go after lunch. It was nice to get out of the house and to chat with other new mommies.
Something crazy happen this week--we almost finished all of our Christmas shopping. That’s right, before December even started. We just wanted to make sure gifts arrived on time. Funny thing though, all of our online orders are shipping faster than we thought they would and we should get them all this next week (by the way Karl’s sibling may get an unexpected package in the mail; if you do, just don’t open it until Christmas).Friday and Saturday night we watched movies. Cold Mountain and Return of the King. Saturday we decided to go out to lunch instead of dinner. That way we wouldn’t mess up Thomas’ bedtime.
