Happy New Year! It was a half holiday week for us, with Karl working Tuesday while Angela and Thomas ran all sorts of errands. Thomas sure appreciated being at home and sleeping in his own crib, but we can tell he also missed Angela’s family. read more »

No, it’s not your imagination. December just skipped a week. Or we did. Either way, it’s been a crazy month. The week before last we occupied ourselves with all sorts of festivities. Monday night (the 8th), we went to see a crèche exhibit in Palo Alto. There were nativities from all over the world. It was pretty cool, and we think Thomas enjoyed it as well, except he missed the puppet show due to traffic. Have you ever noticed how, perhaps moreso than any other holiday, Americans obsess over making sure people have "a place to go" for Thanksgiving? This thought occurred to me in my interactions with co-workers last week? As with most holiday work-weeks, conversations inevitably turned to what we were doing for the holiday--but, more often than not, the discourse revolved around the question of "do you have a place to go for Thanksgiving" as opposed to "are you doing anything special for Thanksgiving."
